Demonstration

March 11th, 3pm, Westbahnhof/Vienna
Make Bologna History - United against cutbacks in education and welfare!

The anniversary of the neoliberal Bologna-Process is no cause for celebration. But this is exactly what European education ministers are planning for March 11th and 12th in Vienna and Budapest.

We as an international protest movement will be there to oppose their celebrations with a mass demonstration!

It is, however, just as important to see the Bologna-Process in the wider social context of the Lissabon strategy of the EU, which effectively sees education as capital and subordinate to a competitive market. This is a threat to the welfare state and advocates privatization of public property. In the face of these developments, the Ministerial Anniversary Party is a deeply cynical gesture towards students, lecturers and all other working people. Therefore our motto is: “United against cutbacks in education and welfare!” Student activists of the Austrian “unibrennt” movement will march together with fellow campaigners from all over Europe as well as members of trade unions and activists from outside the universities to put the protests in a wider context and take them to the next level!
